I had heard so much about San Francisco's $4.00 toast that I had to find out what the big deal was all about. I looked it up online first and found some critics stating that a toast restaurant was a crazy idea but to me it sounded perfect. I came across the website for The Mill which says "We baked some bread and brewed some coffee for you." That's basically a perfect welcome from a close friend. So I decided to take Atlas and check them out. I love coffee and Atlas loves toast; perfect combo.

Había escuchado tanto sobre el pan tostado de $4 dolares de San Francisco que tenia que saber de que se trataba. Primero lo busque en linea y encontré algunos críticos que básicamente opinaban que un restaurante de pan tostado era una idea loca, pero para mi sonaba perfecto. Me encontre con el sitio web para el restaurante El Mill que dice: "Hemos horneado un poco de pan y preparamos un poco de cafe para usted"

Esto es basicamente una bienvenida perfecta de un amigo cercano, entonces decidí invitar a Atlas e ir a comprobarlo, iniciando asi nuestra nueva Aventura. Me encanta el cafe, y Atlas ama el pan tostado; el combo perfecto.

I wasn't sure if it would be overly crowded and bad for kids but now that I have been there 3 times, I would say the mill is kid friendly. The space is bright and roomy and there is seating in the mornings. The best spots are by the windows and there are also some tables outside. Also, it is very easy to get in with a stroller.

No estaba segura si estaría demasiado lleno de gente y no fuera buena idea ir con niños, pero ahora que he estado allí 3 veces diría que elrestaurante el Mill, si es un lugar adecuado para ir con niños. El espacio es amplio e iluminado y hay lugar para sentarse en las mananas. Los mejores lugares están cerca a las ventanas y también hay algunas mesas y sillas afuera y es muy fácil entrar cuando llevas tus ninos en el coche.

The bread is baked daily by Josey Baker Bread. Bread comes out of the oven at 8:00 am, 9:30 am and 11:00 am. Between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm they serve Four Barrel coffee and a variety of toasts with toppings as well as pastries.

They typically have 5 toast options available. We tried Cream Cheese with Sea Salt and Pepper on Dark Mountain Rye, Cinnamon Sugar, Butter and Sea Salt on Country Bread and Almond Butter and Sea Salt on Raisin Bread. The bread slices they give you are huge and they put plenty of topping on them. I found them to be very satisfying.

Atlas loved the almond butter and I loved the cinnamon sugar. The cream cheese one is also a good (healthier) option. You can see their menu here.

Por lo general tienen 5 opciones de pan tostado disponible. Probamos el pan Dark Mountain Rye con queso crema, con sal marina y pimienta. Luego probamos el pan Country con canela azucarada, tambien con mantequilla y sal de mar y por ultimo probamos el Raisin Bread con mantequilla de almendras y sal de mar.

Las rebanadas de pan tostado son enormes y les ponen muchas cosas encima. me pareció muy satisfactorio, a atlas le encanto la mantequilla de de almendras y a mi me encanto la canela azucarada. El queso crema también es una buena opción y mas saludable. Aqui puedes ver el menu del restaurante.

As you can see Atlas kept sticking his hands on the almond butter toast and he ended up with it all over his brunch shirt. Luckily I had lots of wipes so I let him have fun and enjoy his toast.

I definitely recommend checking this place out. It's a couple blocks from Alamo Square where you can see the Painted Ladies.

If you prefer your coffee and toast to-go, they have awesome toast to-go containers so everything stays in tact.

Oh! Also, at night they bake and sell pizza.

Como puedes ver Atlas sigue untando sus manos de mantequilla de almendras y termino con ella por toda la camisa, por suerte yo tenia un montón de tohallitas para limpiarlo , así que lo deje que se divirtiera y disfrutara su pan tostado

Definitivamente les recomiendo que vengan y miren este lugar, esta a un par de cuadras de Alamo Square donde pueden ver las casas lindas de diferentes colores que las llaman "The Painted Ladies."

Si prefieres tu cafe y tu pan tostado para llevar, ellos tienen un pan tostado perfecto y los empaques adecuados para que todo se mantenga intacto. Oh! y también en la noche hacen y venden pizza.
