If apple picking is not on your fall to-do list, you need to add it right now. It's a fun family activity that is good for kids of all ages. It's such a great representation of fall - harvesting your own food and taking it home to enjoy!

You get to run around a farm and twist apples off trees while teaching your kiddos where their food comes from. They get to play with apples, dirt, wagons and chase country cats and chickens.

There are several farms outside of San Francisco where you can go for apple picking. We went to Gabriel Farm in Sebastopol. They are an organic family farm located in Sonoma County.

We had a blast at Gabriel Farm. The farm is quiet and peaceful and they have lots of different fruit. They have flower gardens and some chickens. They also have a cute red barn with their farm name on it. We borrowed a red wagon to pull the boys and apples in. Atlas would only sit in the wagon if it was moving but Henry had lots of fun with it.

The boys ran around and picked apples and played with the soft dirt. They both ended up covered in dirt from head to toe. Atlas also loved the chickens that were near the apple trees. We couldn't touch them but we admired them through the fence.

The owners cat fell in love with us and followed us around as we picked our apples. He also followed us to the picnic area that is set up in the shade under some persimmon trees. Here, we took breaks from the heat and ate snacks and the boys shared their goldfish with the cat. (Sorry cat owner if you are reading this)

We came home with an entire case of fruit and it was delicious. The whole experience was fun, relaxing and memorable.

I absolutely recommend going to Gabriel Farm during apple season. I plan on going back for the persimmons or the guavas! It was a perfect city escape.

Si la recollection de manzanas no esta en tu lista de actividades para este otoño la debes de agregar ahora mismo. Es una actividad familiar divertida que es buena para niños de todas las edades. Es una gran representacion del Otoño, la recollection de tu propia comida y llevarla a casa para disfrutar.

Tienes la oportunidad de correr alrededor de una granja y agarrar manzanas de los arboles, y aprovechas la ocasion para ensenarle a tus hijos de donde proviene su comida.

Los niños vienen a jugar con la tierra, las carretas ,los gatos, gallinas y la búsqueda de las manzanas.

Hay varias granjas afuera de San Francisco a donde pueden ir para la recoleccion de manzanas; fuimos a las granjas de Gabriel ( Gabriel Farm) en Sebastopol, son unas granjas orgánicas de esa familia localizadas en el condado de Sonoma.

No la pasamos de maravilla en este lugar, La granja es un lugar tranquilo y pacifico y tiene muchas frutas diferentes, tienen jardines de flores y algunas gallinas. también tienen un granero rojo lindo con el nombre de la granja en el . Les pedimos un bagon rojo prestado para arrastrar a los niños y llevar las manzanas adentro. Atlas solamente se sentaba en el bagon si este se movía, pero Henry se divirtió mucho en el.

Los niños corrían por toda parte y recogían manzanas y jugaban con la tierra. Ambos terminaron cubiertos de tierra desde la cabeza hasta los pies. A Atlas también le encantaron las gallinas que estaban cerca de los arboles de manzana, no las podíamos tocar pero si mirarlas a travez de la cerca.

A los duenos del gato les caimos muy bien y nos siguieron en la recogida de las manzanas, también nos siguieron a la zona de picnic que esta establecida en la sombra bajo algunos arboles de caqui. Aquí descansamos un poco del calor y tuvimos algunos bocadillos. los niños compartieron sus pescaditos de galleta con el gato. ( mil disculpas para el dueno del gato si de casualidad esta leyendo esto)

LLegamos a casa con un cajon lleno de fruta que estaba deliciosa. La experiencia completa fue muy relajarte, divertida e inolvidable.

Les recomiendo muchísimo que vallan a Gabriel Farms durante la estación de las manzanas, Yo estoy planeando regresar para la estación de caquis o de guayabas. fue una salida perfecta afuera de la ciudad.
