Breakfast at Tartine Manufactory With a Toddler

Breakfast at Tartine Manufactory With a Toddler

Neighborhood: Mission District
Parking: Street
Kid Friendly: Yes

Tartine Manufactory is one of the most talked about Bakery/Restaurants in SF. And for good reason. It's a beautiful location with mouthwatering food and baked goods that also has a coffee bar an ice cream bar and a wine bar.

Usually when a restaurant is this popular I am hesitant to take Atlas because it means long lines and crowded spaces.

As an example, we went to the original Tartine bakery on 18th street the other day and there was a 45 minute wait for a pastry. I couldn’t even get the stroller inside so I gave up.

However, I decided to take a chance on a late breakfast at Tartine Manufactory and it turned out totally fine! I recommend going around 10 am for breakfast. This is after morning crowds but early enough to leave before the lunch rush. (The staff didn't recommend bringing a baby in a stroller during lunch rush).

Since the space is 5,000 square feet there is plenty of seating. They have mostly tables and a few booths and a bar area. They even have high chairs.

I noticed that even when there are lots of people it doesn't feel crowded, the room has big windows that let in lots of light and the decor is light and natural so it helps the space feel inviting and calm.

The food is AMAZING. I have only tried breakfast, pastries and coffee but everything I have ordered has been perfect. The last time we went Atlas and I shared a brioche toast pastry and a the egg sandwich with bacon. Atlas loved the pastry and the egg with cheddar from the sandwich. I have also heard good things about the avocado toast and the rice pudding.

The staff was super helpful and gave us a booth since Atlas hates high chairs. They also helped me store the stroller by the bar area. I didn't see any other kids there but nobody was giving me weird looks for bringing a toddler.

If you do bring a stroller make sure to come in the back entrance. (see picture below) It looks like you are coming into a magazine stand in the HEATH factory but it's actually the Tartine accessible entrance.

Tartine Manufactory is located at 595 Alabama Street and is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. I hope you guys get a chance to check it out. It is San Francisco dining at its best.

Enjoy!
